All Samardzija lacks is experience. Though he pitched at Notre Dame, the Valparaiso native focused primarily on football, leading the Irish in receptions twice before signing a five-year contract with the Cubs. Plesac lavished praise on Samardzija, but expects him to start the season at the Triple-A level.

I can't blame Shark for picking baseball, but man it would've been great to see him playing in the NFL. He was truly a special talent on the football field.
